Proud to be carbon neutral
and 95% sustainable

Our commitments to ethical business practices and environmental sustainability are at our very core. For a decade we have been industry leaders in turning those beliefs into commercial practice – in every aspect of our business. In 2016 we won the Inner West Council Rethink Waste Award for avoiding, reducing, reusing and recycling waste.

Sustainable Salons

Sustainable Salons

We are proud to have been part of Sustainable Salons Australia from its very beginnings. Around a decade ago, when Sustainable Salons was just a small pilot program, we were amongst the first to sign on. For a few months we monitored in detail all the waste we were generating and Sustainable Salons gave us back the data. Since then we’ve been able to reduce our annual landfill contribution massively from 8 cubic metres to 1/2 a cubic metre. Those big purple bins mean we recycle 95% of the waste generated by our salon.

Built to conserve energy

When our Summer Hill salon was constructed in 2016, all our downlights were fitted with environmentally friendly, low-output LEDs as part of a government-led energy saving initiative. Our large salon windows were designed to let the light in during winter and reduce aircon usage. We tinted the top of each window to reduce the glare. The big table that’s such a feature of our salon is made entirely of recycled timber.

An ethically curated product range

Used by us in our salon, and available to you online in our shop, is a comprehensive range of products which have biodegradable packaging and are organic and vegan. A product is vegan if it does not contain any ingredients derived from animals, such as milk, honey, beeswax or keratin. It also means no animal testing was done in relation to its production.

Compostable packaging

We use only compostable packaging for our deliveries: 100% biodegradable, compostable satchels, labels & ink; sticky tape made of cellulose, not plastic; brown paper “bubble” wrap.

You can receive your package at the front door, remove and admire your awesome products, then continue onto your worm farm and use the satchel as a blanket for your worms until it composts. (Note: a worm farm will be required.)

Sendle

Did you know that over 10% of global CO2e emissions are from transport and logistics, such as online shop deliveries? To deliver our products to you, Access Hair has partnered with Sendle, Australia’s first 100% carbon neutral delivery service. Being carbon neutral means that your net release of CO2e into the atmosphere is zero. Sendle calculates the maximum amount of carbon that could be generated by your parcel send and offsets it by supporting projects that reduce those emissions.

We are constantly looking for more and better ways to reduce the carbon footprint of our business, while delivering the best in cutting, styling, colouring and caring for your hair.
